Victoria Curling Club Seeks Grant for New Ice-Making Plant and Accessibility Upgrades
Victoria Curling Club (VCC) aims to secure a one-time grant of $175,000 to replace its outdated ammonia-style ice plant. This funding is crucial to prevent disruptions in community programming and ensure safety, as the current system poses significant risks and operational failures.

Councillors Matt Dell and Krista Loughton are proposing a $175,000 grant from the city's 2026 contingency budget to aid the Victoria Curling Club in replacing its aging ammonia-style ice-making plant, which is unsafe and unreliable. The total cost of the new plant is estimated at $650,000, supplemented by $200,000 for design and upgrades, with a fundraising goal of $850,000.
The VCC has raised over $600,000 so far and plans to issue requests for proposals shortly, aiming for completion in Summer 2026. The club also requires $110,000 for accessibility enhancements to accommodate the North Park Neighbourhood Association. Immediate action is necessary to maintain the club's operations and community programs.
