Volks Energie Completes Ni-Cd Battery Project for PGCIL in Kargil and Leh
Volks Energie has completed a multi-location Ni-Cd battery bank project for Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) in Kargil, Leh, and Yamunanagar. The project involved replacing VRLA batteries with Ni-Cd batteries to enhance reliability in extreme conditions. Execution took place from March 20, 2025, to January 30, 2026, with temperatures in Kargil reaching -9°C. The project included installation, testing, and commissioning of systems across critical substations, demonstrating operational resilience in challenging environments.

Volks Energie completed a Ni-Cd battery bank project for Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) in Kargil, Leh, and Yamunanagar, executed under extreme conditions from March 20, 2025, to January 30, 2026. The project involved dismantling VRLA battery banks and installing Ni-Cd batteries manufactured by SAFT India, chosen for their reliability and long service life.
Despite challenging weather and logistical issues, two specialized teams ensured adherence to safety and quality standards. Volks Energie has installed 15 battery banks across various PGCIL locations and is currently engaged in additional projects in multiple cities.
