Wan Hai Lines Partners with Nippon Paint Marine; Nanjing Tanker Orders Four MR Tankers
Wan Hai Lines has chosen Nippon Paint Marine to provide coatings for two new methanol dual-fuel containerships. Concurrently, Nanjing Tanker plans to order four MR tankers, reflecting ongoing investments in fleet modernization.

Wan Hai Lines has contracted Nippon Paint Marine to supply hull and heat-reflective coatings for two new containerships, including an 8,700 teu and a 16,000 teu vessel, under construction in South Korea. This collaboration will utilize Nippon's FASTAR XI antifouling and EVER COOL coatings, expected to enhance fuel efficiency and reduce energy consumption.
Separately, Nanjing Tanker has allocated up to $182.8 million for four MR product and chemical tankers, scheduled for delivery in 2028 and 2029. The vessels will comply with IMO Tier III emission standards, with designs supporting future methanol dual-fuel adaptations. Nanjing Tanker continues to expand its fleet, having previously contracted multiple ships from Guangzhou Shipyard International.
