Watercare Contracts Cambi for Thermal Hydrolysis at Rosedale Wastewater Treatment Plant
Watercare has contracted Cambi to provide thermal hydrolysis systems for the Rosedale Wastewater Treatment Plant, enhancing capacity and sustainability. This $28 million investment is critical for accommodating Auckland's anticipated population growth and improving wastewater management.

Watercare's Rosedale Wastewater Treatment Plant will receive two thermal hydrolysis systems from Cambi, with a total investment of $28 million expected by 2028. This upgrade aims to improve treatment efficiency and capacity, avoiding the need for additional digesters as wastewater flows are projected to nearly double in the coming decade.
The technology will also enhance biogas production, potentially supplying renewable energy to the plant and the grid. Over the next decade, Watercare plans to execute over 1000 projects, investing approximately $13.8 billion to maintain and expand infrastructure, thereby reducing environmental impacts associated with wastewater management.
