Websol Energy Doubles Capacity, Shifts Focus to Technology and Integration
Websol Energy has increased its solar cell manufacturing capacity from 600 MW to nearly 1.2 GW and plans further upgrades to enhance efficiency. The company aims to integrate vertically into upstream segments while aligning with India's domestic manufacturing requirements ahead of the ALMM deadline.

Websol Energy System Ltd has successfully commissioned a second solar cell line as of September 2025, effectively doubling its capacity to approximately 1.2 GW. The company intends to upgrade existing mono PERC lines to TOPCon technology, targeting an efficiency of over 24.5%, with a projected cost of ₹250-270 crore.
This upgrade will raise total capacity to around 1.35 GW, with commercial production expected to start by February 2027. Websol is also pursuing vertical integration into ingot and wafer manufacturing, aligning with the June 2028 ALMM List 3 requirements for domestic sourcing.
Additionally, a proposed 2 GW integrated facility in Andhra Pradesh is under evaluation for commissioning around June 2027. The strategic focus reflects a shift toward technology and supply chain control in response to evolving domestic solar regulations.
