Wonju City is targeting KRW 920 billion in national road funding by 2027 to enhance its role as a hub for advanced industries. The city held a '2027 National Road Fund Securing Strategy Report Meeting' on February 5, led by Mayor Won Kang-soo, to review key projects vital for its future.

The funding goal represents a 9.5% increase from the previous year. Notable projects include a semiconductor consumables demonstration center and an AI innovation hub. Major infrastructure projects, such as the Yeoju-Wonju double-track railway and cultural centers, are also planned. The city will engage with central government and local representatives to secure necessary funding.
