Wyre Council Approves 9.9 MW Snapewood Solar Farm Project in Garstang
The Wyre Planning Committee has approved the Snapewood Solar Farm, a 9.9 MW solar project in Cabus, for a temporary period of 40 years. The development includes solar panels, inverter cabins, and a substation. Despite concerns from local councils regarding agricultural land loss and infrastructure, the decision was made after revisions to address highway safety and environmental impact. The project is planned to contribute to the UK’s solar energy capacity by mid-2027.

The Wyre Planning Committee approved the Snapewood Solar Farm in Cabus, a 9.9 MW project, on March 4, 2026, with a formal notice issued the next day. The farm will occupy agricultural land and include solar panels, inverter cabins, and a substation, granted temporary permission for 40 years.
Local councils raised concerns over agricultural land loss and infrastructure suitability. Following revisions to construction traffic plans, the highways authority withdrew its objections. The site is classified as Grade 3a agricultural land, and a sequential test confirmed no viable alternatives. The project aims to support the UK government's solar capacity target by contributing 9.9 MW by mid-2027.
