Yongin City Wins Minister of Interior and Safety Award at 2026 Korea Green Climate Awards
Yongin City was awarded the Minister of the Interior and Safety Award at the 2026 Korea Green Climate Awards for its efforts in climate crisis response and carbon neutrality. The city is recognized for its development of the world's largest semiconductor mega-cluster while maintaining industrial competitiveness and carbon neutrality.
To achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, Yongin established a Carbon Neutrality Support Center and a dedicated department. The city promotes corporate green management through ESG consulting and has initiated projects to reduce disposable cup usage in collaboration with Everland. Additionally, it has implemented educational programs for future generations and leads in carbon emission reduction through smart energy management and low-carbon diet initiatives.
