Ameresco to Build Renewable Gas Compressor Station at San Joaquin County Landfill for PG&E
Ameresco is set to construct a renewable gas compressor station at Stockton Metro Airport, utilizing treated methane from the San Joaquin County landfill to supply renewable natural gas to 8,400 PG&E households. The facility will condition landfill gas to meet PG&E's quality standards and will be connected to the landfill via a new pipeline, enhancing sustainable energy production and reducing methane emissions.

The San Joaquin County landfill will provide renewable natural gas to 8,400 households served by PG&E. The County Board of Supervisors is set to approve an easement for Ameresco to construct a gas compressor station at Stockton Metro Airport.
This facility will mix treated methane from the Forward Landfill, which currently powers Ameresco's Landfill Gas to Energy Plant. The landfill gas must be conditioned to meet PG&E's Rule 21 quality requirements.
A new pipeline will connect the landfill to the airport site for gas integration into PG&E's system. The Forward Landfill has over 200 methane wells, producing biogas from decomposing organic materials. This renewable gas can be used in existing pipelines, providing a sustainable energy source that significantly reduces methane emissions and is more energy-efficient than electricity conversion.
