Ancala Bioenergy Acquires Biogen's UK Anaerobic Digestion Plants
Ancala Bioenergy has acquired Biogen, which operates anaerobic digestion plants in the UK, from Bedfordia Group and Kier Group. The plants recycle approximately 250,000 tons of food waste annually, converting it into renewable energy and nutrient-rich PAS 110-certified biofertilizer.
With a generation capacity of about 13MW, Biogen's facilities produce enough green energy to power 25,000 homes. The plants benefit from Renewables Obligation Certificates, Feed-in-Tariffs, and Renewable Heat Incentive subsidies.
Biogen operates seven plants located in Bedford, Rushden, Baldock, and Atherstone in England, and Aberdare, St Asaph, and Caernarfon in Wales. The acquisition is expected to enhance Biogen's position in the renewable energy sector.
