Angola Advances Biofuels Law for Final Approval by January 2026
Angola is nearing final approval for its Biofuels Law, with stakeholder contributions open until January 10, 2026. The law aims to position Angola as a regional leader in biofuel production through a transparent investment framework.
After stakeholder input, the law will be presented to the Economic Commission of the Council of Ministers for final approval. It aligns with the Paris Climate Agreement and Angola's 2050 Strategy, facilitating investment and the development of a biorefinery to enhance energy diversification.
A public consultation meeting on December 15, 2025, involved various sectors, with suggestions for an environmental protection plan, pilot projects, and a technical capacity-building plan. Stakeholders also emphasized the importance of intermediate biofuel production targets by 2035.
