ANP Approves Brazil's First Wheat-Based Ethanol Plant by CB Bioenergia in Rio Grande do Sul
The Brazilian National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) has authorized CB Bioenergia to operate Brazil's first wheat-based ethanol plant in Santiago, Rio Grande do Sul, following an investment of approximately US$18.6 million. The facility aims to produce 100 tons of wheat daily and generate up to 12 million liters of hydrated ethanol annually, with plans to expand production to 45-50 million liters by 2027 through an additional investment of US$93 million. This initiative is part of a broader effort to diversify biofuel feedstocks in Brazil, backed by significant financing from the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES).
