Asterion Industrial Partners has allocated €1.5 billion to its biomethane platform, ABIO, aiming to establish a leading European renewable gas enterprise. The investment includes €800 million in equity, split between €400 million from Asterion Industrial Infra Fund III and €400 million from co-investors.

This funding will facilitate the development and operation of biomethane assets in various European markets, with ABIO currently managing six operational plants and six under construction. Asterion anticipates reaching 20 operational plants by the end of 2026, achieving a biomethane production capacity of around 3 TWh within three to four years. The company targets 40 plants by 2030, producing up to 3.5 TWh annually, supporting Europe’s energy transition while addressing agricultural waste management and enhancing energy security.
