BBVA Named Best Bank for Green Bonds at Global Finance Sustainable Finance Awards 2025
BBVA has been named the best bank for green bonds at the Global Finance Sustainable Finance Awards 2025, also receiving recognition for its sustainable finance deal of the year with Verdalia for biomethane plant construction. The bank was acknowledged as the best in sustainable finance in Spain, with plans to channel €700 billion into sustainable initiatives from 2025 to 2029, focusing on climate, natural capital, and social opportunities. The awards ceremony will be held on April 21 in London, celebrating winners from 56 regions.

BBVA was recognized as the best bank for green bonds and awarded for sustainable finance deal of the year for its agreement with Verdalia to construct biomethane plants. The Sustainable Finance Awards by Global Finance also named BBVA the best bank in sustainable finance in Spain, while Garanti BBVA won the same title in Türkiye.
BBVA aims to channel €700 billion into sustainable business from 2025 to 2029, focusing on climate, natural capital, and social opportunities as key areas of its strategy. In 2025, the bank facilitated significant sustainable transactions across its primary markets, including Spain, Mexico, Türkiye, and South America. The awards ceremony will take place on April 21 in London, honoring winners from 56 regions.
