BDO Zone Initiative Supports CSA Group's Standardized Bioeconomy Framework in Canada
Ecostrat and the BDO Zone Initiative have supported the CSA Group's publication of CSA TS-005:25, a technical specification aimed at accelerating Canada's bioeconomy growth. This framework standardizes the assessment of Bioeconomy Development Opportunity (BDO) Zones for developing biofuels, renewable chemicals, biogas, and biobased products.
CSA TS-005:25 introduces a protocol for quantifying 'regional readiness' for biomanufacturing and evaluates regional biomass supply chains and infrastructure. The BDO Zone Initiative is integrating this specification to enhance market transparency and attract investment in competitive biomanufacturing hubs. Ecostrat recently rated Vegreville, Alberta, with an 'A' rating, facilitating Provectus Biofuels' $845-million investment for a new renewable jet fuel project in the region.
