Biodiesel Production Recovery Supports Trucking Fuel Costs
Biodiesel output surged to 403 million gallons in April, aiding the trucking sector by mitigating fuel price volatility. Increased production aligns with federal Renewable Fuel Standard requirements, enhancing fuel availability and stability for the industry.

Biodiesel production in April reached 403 million gallons, a significant recovery from January's 258 million gallons, reflecting improvements in the biofuel sector. Iowa, leading in biodiesel production, has implemented $65 million in infrastructure grants to bolster biofuel station capabilities, with 905 fueling stations currently offering biodiesel blends.
The state’s capacity is noted at 400 million gallons annually, although production fell nearly 25% last year due to regulatory uncertainty. The trucking industry benefits from biodiesel's competitive pricing and potential tax incentives, which could enhance resilience against fluctuating petroleum prices. Increased biodiesel availability may help stabilize fuel supply, reducing vulnerability to global market disruptions.
