Brazil's Tangará Project Enhances Power Transmission Capacity with New Transformers
The Tangará Project aims to improve Brazil's electrical transmission with an investment of R$ 1.1 billion. New transformers and a 500 kV line upgrade will enhance energy reliability in Maranhão and Pará.

The Tangará Project, part of Lot 03 from Transmission Auction No. 02/2022, includes the installation of four transformers at the Santa Luzia III Substation, which began commercial operation in March. These upgrades include two 450 MVA transformers operating at 500/230 kV and two 100 MVA transformers at 230/138 kV, collectively increasing the substation's capacity.
The project encompasses 354 km of new transmission lines and contributes 2,300 MVA to Brazil's national grid. With an investment of R$ 1.1 billion, the remaining components are expected to be operational by June 2026, significantly enhancing power stability between Brazil's North and Northeast regions.
