Synectics plc Reports Falling Profits, Board Changes Amid Market Challenges
Synectics plc, based in Sheffield, reported a revenue drop to £22.2 million for H1 2026 from £35.5 million in H1 2025. The board restructuring comes in response to a £13 million revenue decline attributed to the Middle East conflict and the loss of a significant gaming contract.

For the six months ending May 31, 2026, Synectics plc reported £22.2 million in revenue, down from £35.5 million in the same period of 2025, with adjusted EBITDA falling to £1 million from £4.2 million. The company noted delays in energy revenues due to ongoing Middle East conflicts and the impact of a non-repeating gaming contract worth £7.8 million that had boosted previous earnings.
Net cash stood at £10.5 million with no bank debt, compared to £12.1 million a year earlier. Amidst these challenges, Synectics is advancing its '5P' transformation strategy to expand its market presence.
New contracts include a £1.5 million deal with Stagecoach and a £1.2 million project for carbon capture. Board changes include the appointment of Peter Kear as senior independent non-executive director, while Andrew Lockwood steps down from his role. This restructuring may be critical for navigating market pressures and enhancing operational resilience.
