Buda City Council has awarded a $10.29 million contract for the Sunfield Effluent Force Main Project, enabling expanded wastewater treatment capacity. The project aims to construct an 18,000-foot sewer pipeline to enhance discharge capabilities, fully utilizing the facility's potential.

The City Council of Buda has approved a contract worth $10.29 million for the construction of the Sunfield Effluent Force Main Project. This initiative entails an 18,000-linear-foot gravity sewer pipeline from the wastewater treatment plant to a new discharge location, allowing the facility, which currently has a treatment capacity of 3.5 million gallons per day (mgd) but discharges only 2 mgd, to operate at full capacity.
Ten proposals were received, with MA Smith Contracting Co. being awarded the contract based on scoring criteria including experience and cost. Construction is slated to begin in May, with expected completion in approximately 330 days, between March and May 2027. This project is crucial for maximizing the utility of the recently expanded treatment plant and is financed through bonds issued in 2017 and 2021.
