Perth Wastewater Lagoon Expansion Begins to Support Housing Growth
The expansion of the Perth Wastewater Lagoon, backed by nearly $3 million from Ontario, aims to enhance treatment capacity for 10,500 residents and facilitate the construction of 2,500 homes. This infrastructure initiative is part of Ontario's broader Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program.

Construction has commenced on the Perth Wastewater Lagoon expansion, which will increase wastewater treatment capacity to serve 10,500 people. The project, initiated in June by Louis W. Bray Construction Ltd., is supported by almost $3 million from the Ontario government via the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program's Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund.
Once completed, this initiative is expected to enable the development of approximately 2,500 homes in the community. With construction projected to continue until fall 2027, the expansion is critical for supporting Perth's long-term population and housing growth. Failure to adequately invest in such infrastructure may hinder future residential development and economic stability in the region.
