Cambi ASA has signed a letter of intent with NCC to supply thermal hydrolysis process technology for the modernization of sludge treatment at the Malad wastewater treatment plant in Mumbai. This facility, developed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, is part of a broader upgrade of the city's sanitation infrastructure.
This marks Cambi's second THP installation in Mumbai and India. The project is expected to move to a definitive contract following early design work and commercial negotiations, with THP system delivery targeted for 2027. The technology aims to significantly increase biogas production, reduce truck traffic, and produce low-odour biosolids as a synthetic fertilizer replacement, enhancing Cambi's position in the Indian wastewater market.
