Capstone Green Energy Installs 6.6MW Biogas Project in North Carolina
Capstone Green Energy Holdings has installed a 6.6-MW combined heat and power microturbine system at a renewable energy facility in North Carolina. The project utilizes a proprietary pyrolysis process to convert swine waste into renewable biogas, which Capstone microturbines will convert into 100% renewable electricity for grid export and thermal energy for internal operations.
Scheduled for final commissioning in March 2026, the system includes one C600S microturbine and six C1000S microturbines. The initiative aims to improve energy efficiency, enhance project economics, and generate Carbon Emission Reduction credits. It also serves as an odor-control solution, aligning with local renewable energy goals.
