Chhattisgarh Cabinet Approves Bill to Prevent Forced Religious Conversions
The Chhattisgarh cabinet has approved the draft of the Chhattisgarh Freedom of Religion Bill, 2026, aimed at preventing religious conversions through coercion or deceit. The bill will be introduced in the ongoing budget session. Other decisions include the withdrawal of 13 political protest cases, approval of renewable energy subsidies, and drafts for various amendments concerning planning, housing, recruitment, and cess on property registration.

Additionally, the cabinet decided to withdraw 13 cases related to political protests and approved a subsidy program for renewable energy projects.
The Chhattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development Agency will provide Rs 1.5 lakh for solar high-mast plants and Rs 9,000 for domestic biogas plants for specified years. The cabinet also cleared drafts for several bills related to town planning, housing, recruitment, and the abolition of an additional cess on property registration, previously imposed for a now-defunct scheme.
