Chibuwe Technical High School Installs Zimbabwe's Largest Biogas Plant for Energy Needs
Chibuwe Technical High School in Chipinge has installed a 50 cubic meter biogas plant powered by pig waste, significantly reducing its reliance on firewood. The biogas now fuels the school's kitchens and laboratories, promoting green energy and addressing deforestation issues. The project has increased efficiency in food preparation and aligns with environmental sustainability goals.

Chibuwe Technical High School in Chipinge has built a 50 cubic meter biogas plant in 2024, eliminating its dependence on firewood for cooking and heating water. The plant uses waste from nearly 200 pigs to provide energy for two kitchens, laboratories, and the Food and Nutrition Department.
This initiative has led to significant reductions in deforestation and improved operational efficiency. The biogas kitchen has become central to the school’s cooking system, enhancing both sustainability and student services.
