CMA CGM Completes First Biomethanol Bunkering at Yangshan Port
CMA CGM and SIPG Energy successfully completed their first biomethanol bunkering operation for the CMA CGM OSMIUM at Yangshan Port on March 5-6, 2026, marking a significant milestone in the shipping group's efforts to use lower-carbon fuels. A total of 3,643 tons of biomethanol were supplied, establishing a new record for the largest single bunkering volume at a Chinese port.
This event aligns with CMA CGM's commitment to Net Zero Carbon by 2050 and its plan to deploy approximately 200 dual-fuel container vessels by 2031. The partnerships with SIPG Energy and Shanghai Electric Group facilitate the supply of LNG and biomethanol, reinforcing Shanghai's role as a hub for sustainable marine fuels.
