CMA CGM Completes First Biomethanol Bunkering at Yangshan Port
CMA CGM and SIPG Energy conducted the first biomethanol bunkering for the CMA CGM OSMIUM at Yangshan Port on March 5-6, 2026. This operation supplied 3,643 tons of biomethanol and sets a record for the largest single biomethanol bunkering at a Chinese port. It aligns with CMA CGM's goal of achieving Net Zero Carbon by 2050 and supports the company's strategy to integrate lower-carbon fuels into maritime logistics.

CMA CGM and SIPG Energy successfully completed their first biomethanol bunkering operation for the CMA CGM OSMIUM at Yangshan Port on March 5-6, 2026, marking a significant milestone in the shipping group's efforts to use lower-carbon fuels. A total of 3,643 tons of biomethanol were supplied, establishing a new record for the largest single bunkering volume at a Chinese port.
This event aligns with CMA CGM's commitment to Net Zero Carbon by 2050 and its plan to deploy approximately 200 dual-fuel container vessels by 2031. The partnerships with SIPG Energy and Shanghai Electric Group facilitate the supply of LNG and biomethanol, reinforcing Shanghai's role as a hub for sustainable marine fuels.
