Colin Storey Receives 2026 Environmental Citizen Award for Kurnell Peninsula Restoration Efforts
Colin Storey has been named the 2026 Environmental Citizen of the Year by Sutherland Shire Council for his extensive conservation work at Kurnell Peninsula. His projects include planting eucalyptus trees to support koalas and leading efforts to reintroduce the endangered green and golden bell frog, alongside initiatives for seagrass restoration.

Colin Storey is restoring the Kurnell Peninsula's environment, notably through eucalyptus tree planting at the Sydney Desalination Plant, supporting koalas at Symbio Wildlife Park. Storey, appointed the 2026 Environmental Citizen of the Year, has been active in environmental conservation since 1976.
His contributions include Streamwatch monitoring and long-term volunteer work. At the plant, he has initiated projects for tree planting, frog refuge programs, and seagrass restoration.
