COWI to Design CO₂ Hub for Nordion Energi in Malmö, Sweden
Nordion Energi is developing Sweden's first shared interim storage facility for liquid carbon dioxide in Malmö, with design by COWI set to be operational by 2030. This project is significant for advancing carbon capture and storage infrastructure essential for meeting international climate goals.

COWI has been awarded the project to design a CO₂ hub in Malmö, expected to handle millions of tons of CO₂ annually. The facility will be located in Malmö port due to its strategic logistics advantages.
The Pre-FEED process will include cost assessments, crucial for determining CO₂ logistics pricing. Both the IPCC and IEA emphasize the importance of CCUS technology in emission reduction efforts. This CO₂ hub is anticipated to facilitate new business models and regional economic growth by creating economies of scale in carbon transport and storage. The project reflects a critical step towards extensive carbon storage capabilities.
