Cstar Petroleum Accelerates Kribi Refinery Project in Cameroon, Aiming for 2026 Start-Up
Cstar Petroleum is accelerating the construction of a refinery in Kribi, Cameroon, with a partial start-up now targeted for late 2026, two years earlier than planned. The facility will initially produce 10,000 barrels per day, addressing 22% of national diesel and gasoline demand, and is expected to create 2,000 direct and 5,000 indirect jobs while reducing fuel imports by 30%. The project, estimated at 115 billion CFA francs, aims to enhance Cameroon’s energy sovereignty and generate significant annual savings and export revenue.

Cstar Petroleum, a joint venture of SNH, Tradex, and Ariana Energy, is expediting the construction of a refinery in Kribi, Cameroon, with a revised partial start-up planned for late 2026, two years ahead of schedule. The refinery will initially produce 10,000 barrels per day, constituting one-third of its final capacity of 30,000 barrels per day, covering approximately 22% of the national demand for diesel and gasoline.
The project, estimated at 115 billion CFA francs, includes a storage terminal and is expected to generate annual savings of 400 billion CFA francs and 141 billion CFA francs in export revenue, primarily from marine fuels. It is projected to reduce fuel imports by 30% and create 2,000 direct and 5,000 indirect jobs. The addition of biofuel units could eventually satisfy up to 70% of local fuel needs, reinforcing Cameroon’s energy sovereignty.
