d'Amico International Shipping Orders Two Eco-Design MR1 Tankers from Guangzhou Shipyard International
d'Amico International Shipping S.A. has contracted Guangzhou Shipyard International for two eco-design Medium Range 1 (MR1) product tankers at $43.2 million each, set for delivery in April and July 2029. The new vessels will enhance efficiency by reducing fuel consumption and increasing cargo capacity, while also being methanol-ready and biofuel-certified. This $86.4 million investment aligns with the company's fleet renewal strategy following the sale of four older ships.

d'Amico International Shipping S.A. has signed a shipbuilding contract with Guangzhou Shipyard International Company Limited for two Medium Range 1 (MR1) product tankers, each costing $43.2 million. The vessels are scheduled for delivery in April and July 2029. d'Amico Tankers also holds an option to order one or two additional ships within three months.
The current fleet includes 29 double-hulled product tankers, averaging 9.5 years in age. The new MR1s are expected to be the most efficient in the fleet, consuming 4 tonnes less fuel per day and carrying 4,000 cubic meters more cargo compared to existing models.
They will be methanol-ready, biofuel-certified, and designed for shore power. This $86.4 million investment supports the company's fleet renewal strategy following the sale of four older vessels.
