DPA and Assam Petro-Chemicals Collaborate on Green Methanol Production
Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) has partnered with Assam Petro-Chemicals Limited to produce 60,000 tons of renewable eMethanol annually. This initiative aims to enhance India's green maritime fuel capabilities, supporting the shift towards cleaner energy in shipping.

DPA will invest in producing 60,000 tons per year of eMethanol, leveraging technology from Assam Petro-Chemicals. This project will comply with Renewable Fuel of Non-Biological Origin (RFNBO) standards and is designed to provide cost-effective marine fuel at Kandla Port.
Additionally, a biomethanol plant with a daily capacity of 5,000 liters will be developed by Thermax to further enhance fuel supply. DPA, in collaboration with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), plans to tender for 500,000 tons of green methanol within two years.
Successful bunkering trials indicate operational readiness, positioning Kandla as a strategic hub in the green maritime fuel sector. Continued advancements in renewable fuel production may reduce reliance on traditional bunker fuels.
