Dutch Dairy Farmers Launch Groen Gas Erop Project for Sustainable Biogas Production
Two dairy farmers in Knegsel, Netherlands, initiate the Groen Gas Erop project to establish a biogas hub, promoting green gas production. The project aims to reduce methane, CO₂, and nitrogen emissions while showcasing a scalable model for other farms. By processing their manure through individual digesters and collaborating on infrastructure, they address financial and practical barriers. The initiative seeks to contribute to national sustainability goals and support regional economies through the green gas network.

The Groen Gas Erop project, initiated by two dairy farmers in Knegsel, Netherlands, aims to create a biogas hub to produce sustainable green gas. This initiative addresses increasing pressure for emission reduction and sustainability among milk producers with a focus on scalable solutions.
Each farmer will process their manure using mono-digesters, with biogas transported to a shared hub for upgrading to natural gas quality. This cooperative approach, involving partners like Nieuwerwets and Ecotop B.V., aims to overcome financial challenges, with project costs estimated at €1.1 million.
The project intends to significantly lower methane, CO₂, and nitrogen emissions while ensuring efficient collaboration and scalability. This model offers a new perspective on green gas production, aligning with national sustainability efforts and regional economic benefits.
