Eco Sustainable Solutions to Open Second Food Waste Processing Plant in Dorset
Eco Sustainable Solutions is opening a £16m food waste processing facility in West Parley to handle an additional 70,000 tonnes annually. This new plant will complement the existing site in Piddlehinton, which currently processes 80-100 tonnes per day. The expansion is in response to rising demand from councils facing a government mandate for kerbside food-waste collections by March. The new facility will produce biomethane for the gas network, while the existing plant generates electricity for 4,000 homes annually.
Eco Sustainable Solutions will open a second food waste processing site in West Parley next month, enabling the processing of an additional 70,000 tonnes of food waste per year. This £16m facility will complement the existing anaerobic digestion plant in Piddlehinton, which handles 80-100 tonnes daily.
The expansion addresses rising demand from councils, driven by a government deadline for kerbside food-waste collections by March. The new plant will convert food waste into biomethane for the gas network, while the Piddlehinton site generates electricity for 4,000 homes annually. The digestate produced is utilized as soil fertilizer, and separated plastics are sent to landfill.
