Emperador Secures €300 Million Green Loan for Debt Refinancing
Emperador Inc. has secured a €300 million sustainability-linked loan to refinance existing debt for Emperador International Ltd. This marks the first green financing initiative for the company and the Philippine food and beverage sector.

Emperador Inc. has finalized a €300 million sustainability-linked loan, amounting to approximately P21 billion, aimed at refinancing the debt of its subsidiary, Emperador International Ltd. This facility, guaranteed by Emperador and its subsidiary, was arranged by a syndicate led by Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA), Bank of China, and DBS Bank.
The loan includes performance targets related to greenhouse gas emissions and renewable energy usage. The company has invested in various sustainability projects, including a bioenergy center and renewable energy solutions in the Philippines, Spain, and Mexico. This transaction signifies a notable step for the liquor industry in sustainable financing.
