Equinor has entered a two-year bio-methanol supply agreement with Wallenius Wilhelmsen, which will use the bio-methanol as bunker fuel for its dual-fuel vessels. Deliveries will occur at the Ports of Zeebrugge and Antwerp, with supplies starting in late 2026.
This partnership aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in shipping and supports Wallenius Wilhelmsen's goal of providing net zero logistics. The bio-methanol will be produced at Equinor's Tjeldbergodden facility in Norway, using biogas certificates from captured biogas in line with the EU Renewable Energy Directive.
