Expander Energy Partners with Plug Power for Biofuel Project in Canada
Expander Energy has partnered with Plug Power to utilize GenEco™ technology in the Mackenzie Biofuel Project. This initiative aims to convert forestry waste into sustainable aviation fuel and other low-carbon fuels, supporting Canada's decarbonization efforts.

Expander Energy Inc. has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Plug Power Inc. to incorporate Plug's GenEco™ PEM electrolyzer technology in the Mackenzie Biofuel Project located in British Columbia. This facility aims to convert approximately 84,000 dry tonnes of forestry biomass into up to 30 million litres of renewable fuels annually, including sustainable aviation fuel and renewable diesel, potentially avoiding 90,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year.
Expansion plans could increase capacity to 336,000 dry tonnes, yielding 120 million litres and reducing 360,000 tonnes of emissions. This collaboration promotes a scalable pathway for low-carbon fuels, addressing the growing demand for sustainable aviation fuel.
