Falk Biogas Secures SEK 221 Million Investment Grant for BioLNG Facility in Sweden
Falk Biogas AB has received a SEK 221 million grant from the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency for a facility converting cattle slurry into bioLNG and biofertilizer. The project, set to be completed by 2028 in Borgholm, is part of a circular economy initiative involving local dairy farmers. The facility aims to produce 43 GWh of bioLNG annually, contributing to emission reductions and enhancing Sweden's domestic biofuel production.

Falk Biogas AB, owned by 50 dairy farmers on Öland, Sweden, has secured a SEK 221 million investment grant from the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency for a facility converting cattle slurry and manure into liquefied biomethane (bioLNG) and biofertilizer. The project, to be constructed in Borgholm and completed by 2028, aims to create a circular system where anaerobic digestion of livestock manure produces biogas, upgraded to bioLNG.
The total investment is estimated at SEK 340 million. The plant is expected to produce 43 GWh of bioLNG annually for heavy-duty vehicles and shipping, while also reducing emissions and enhancing local agricultural competitiveness.
