Farm Biomethane Limited Proposes Anaerobic Digestion Plant in Elveden, Suffolk
Farm Biomethane Limited has proposed the construction of an anaerobic digestion plant at Elveden Estate in Suffolk, which will produce 1,000 m³/day of biomethane by processing approximately 98,500 tonnes of waste and crops annually. The facility aims to minimize landscape impact while injecting the generated biomethane into the National Grid, with over 40% of the feedstock sourced from the estate. The application is currently under review by Suffolk County Council.

Farm Biomethane Limited has submitted plans to construct an anaerobic digestion plant on an 8.61 hectare site at Elveden Estate, Suffolk, capable of producing 1,000 m³/day of biomethane. The facility will be located near Barrow Clump Farm piggeries and will inject biomethane into the National Grid through a high-pressure gas main along the northern boundary.
The process will generate biogas with 54% biomethane after CO₂ removal, and produce digestate suitable for fertiliser. The plant will process approximately 98,500 tonnes per annum of waste, crops, and by-products, with over 40% of feedstock sourced from the estate.
The site design aims to minimize landscape impact, and highway access is expected to improve traffic flow. The application is currently under review by Suffolk County Council.
