Firefly Partners with Altaca to Advance Sustainable Aviation Fuel Production
Firefly has partnered with Turkish firm Altaca to implement hydrothermal liquefaction technology for sustainable aviation fuel. This collaboration aims to address aviation's carbon footprint and enhance local fuel production capabilities.

Firefly has secured a partnership with Altaca to implement hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) technology at its UK facility, enabling the conversion of sewage sludge into crude oil for sustainable aviation fuel. This agreement comes as Firefly aims to scale its 'wet-to-jet' production platform and tackle the aviation industry's regulatory and cost challenges.
The raw materials will be sourced from UK water companies, ensuring local production that is resilient to global supply issues. The partnership enhances Firefly's end-to-end biofuel infrastructure, crucial for meeting climate goals in aviation. The deal was formalized in Ankara, emphasizing strong UK-Turkish collaboration in engineering and sustainability.
