First Biogas Plant in Pakistan Launched Under Suthra Punjab Waste-to-Value Program
The first pilot biogas plant in Pakistan was launched at the Lakhodair dumping site under the Suthra Punjab program, aiming to convert waste into energy. Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique inspected the plant and reviewed its operations, highlighting its potential to generate revenue by producing bio-CNG from organic waste. The initiative is part of a broader effort to manage waste effectively and includes interests in producing fertilizer and construction materials from waste.

Pakistan's first biogas plant was launched at the Lakhodair dumping site as part of the Suthra Punjab Waste-to-Value Program. Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique inspected the facility, emphasizing its goal of converting daily waste into energy and useful products.
The pilot project aims to produce bio-CNG from organic waste, starting with waste collected during Eid-ul-Azha. This initiative is expected to reduce disposal costs and generate revenue. Future expansions of the program are planned under CM Maryam Nawaz's guidance, with interests in fertilizer production and waste-based construction materials.
