FortisBC Partners with YVR for Energy Efficiency Upgrades
FortisBC Energy Inc. supports Vancouver International Airport (YVR) in implementing energy-efficient heating upgrades, aiming to reduce annual natural gas consumption by over 12,000 gigajoules and lower emissions by approximately 700 tonnes of CO2 equivalent. This initiative is part of YVR's Roadmap to Net Zero 2030, highlighting the airport's commitment to sustainability and collaboration with FortisBC.

Vancouver International Airport (YVR) has received support from FortisBC Energy Inc. for energy-efficiency upgrades in its heating system at the International Terminal Building. These enhancements are expected to decrease natural gas usage by over 12,000 gigajoules annually, equating to the energy required to heat around 130 homes in B.C. and lead to a reduction of about 700 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
Furthermore, YVR's commitment to using up to 100% designated Renewable Natural Gas will contribute to its sustainability goals. The project is projected to save approximately $175,000 in annual operating costs, underscoring the financial and environmental benefits of the upgrades.
