FortisBC to Reduce Gas Rates for Customers Effective April 1, 2026
FortisBC Energy Inc. is set to decrease its gas rate from $2.230 to $1.660 per gigajoule starting April 1, 2026, following approval from the British Columbia Utilities Commission. The average residential customer will see a monthly bill reduction of approximately $4.15. The Renewable Natural Gas rate will also drop from $9.23 to $8.66 per gigajoule. This rate decrease is attributed to recent warmer weather in the Pacific Northwest, affecting gas pricing.

FortisBC Energy Inc. will reduce its gas rate from $2.230 to $1.660 per gigajoule on April 1, 2026, as approved by the British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC). Average residential customers will experience a monthly bill decrease of about $4.15, based on typical consumption of 7.5 gigajoules.
The Renewable Natural Gas rate will also decrease from $9.23 to $8.66 per gigajoule. These changes are primarily due to warmer weather in the Pacific Northwest. FortisBC's gas pricing is influenced by market-based factors, and rates are reviewed regularly by the BCUC.
