Foundation Laid for Mozambique-Malawi 400kV Transmission Project
The Mozambique-Malawi Transmission Project aims to enhance electricity supply and interconnectivity between the two nations.

A foundation stone for the 400kV Mozambique-Malawi Transmission Project was laid by Presidents Lazarus Chakwera and Filipe Nyusi. This initiative is designed to meet Malawi's rising electricity demand and establish a transmission link that allows an initial power supply of 50MW from Mozambique, with potential for an increase to 110MW through further negotiations.
The project, financed by the World Bank, KFW, and the European Union, is expected to create 1,000 jobs in both countries. Previous collaborations include a similar project initiated in November at Phombeya Substation in Malawi. The project also aims to strengthen bilateral relations and solidarity between Malawi and Mozambique.
