GAIL (India) Limited has acquired a 49% equity stake in Leafiniti Bioenergy Private Limited (LBPL) for ₹13.54 crore. LBPL operates a 10.2 tonnes per day Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) plant in Karnataka and reported a turnover of ₹28.42 crore for FY 2024-25.

The acquisition, which involves 1,35,43,215 equity shares, is part of GAIL's strategy to expand in the biofuel sector and establish new CBG projects with LBPL. The necessary regulatory approvals from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management have been obtained.
