Gas Malaysia Bhd Awards EPCC Contracts for Biomethane Purification Plants in Perak
Gas Malaysia Bhd has taken a significant step in its commitment to renewable energy by awarding engineering procurement construction and commissioning (EPCC) contracts to two local firms, MTC Orec Sdn Bhd and Enproserve M Sdn Bhd. This initiative will facilitate the development of biomethane purification plants in Trong and Air Kuning, Perak, with an anticipated completion timeline of 13 months.
The project is a pivotal move towards expanding Gas Malaysia’s green gas portfolio and underscores the nation’s commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions. Through its wholly owned subsidiary, Gas Malaysia Green Ventures Sdn Bhd, the company aims to contribute to Malaysia's renewable energy agenda.
The biomethane purification plants are designed to transform raw biogas by effectively removing impurities, resulting in cleaner, high-quality biomethane that meets stringent natural gas standards. This process aligns with the global shift towards low-carbon alternatives to fossil fuels.
Once purified, the biomethane will be distributed via a virtual pipeline system or tube skids, seamlessly integrating into the existing natural gas distribution network. This innovative approach not only supports industrial demands but also benefits local communities, marking a substantial stride in the pursuit of greener energy solutions.
