Gazprom Neft Conducts Ground Tests for Russia's First Sustainable Aviation Fuel
Gazprom Neft has conducted rig tests for what it claims is Russia's first sustainable aviation fuel made from renewable materials like waste frying oil and animal fats. The tests simulated flight phases and confirmed efficient engine operation with reduced environmental impact. The company aims to develop a unified standard for sustainable aviation fuel components, collaborating with Ecoway and Vkusno I Tochka. Aeroflot highlights sustainable development as a strategic priority and acknowledges the industry's progress in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Gazprom Neft has completed testing for a sustainable aviation fuel derived from renewable organic materials such as waste frying oil and animal fats. The fuel was evaluated on a jet engine rig, simulating take-off, cruise, and landing phases, confirming efficient operation and reduced environmental impact.
The company intends to use these test results to create a unified standard for sustainable aviation fuel components. In collaboration with Ecoway and Vkusno I Tochka, Gazprom Neft is advancing towards decarbonising transport, following its biofuel development for marine use. Aeroflot identifies sustainable development as a key strategic priority.
