Global Biofuels Alliance Advances SAF Corridors and Methanol Solutions
The Global Biofuels Alliance (GBA) is negotiating with countries to establish sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) corridors, aiming to standardize SAF policies internationally. Additionally, GBA identifies methanol as a near-term solution for the marine sector, with commercial engines already in production.

The Global Biofuels Alliance is engaged in negotiations to create SAF corridors linking global airports, specifically targeting routes between Amsterdam, Delhi, and Singapore. This initiative aims to harmonize SAF policy and address the fragmentation in current regulations, thereby enhancing investment in SAF technologies.
GBA also emphasizes methanol as a promising fuel for the marine sector, with over 200 ships anticipated to use methanol engines. Furthermore, GBA's second-generation ethanol program is positioned as a feedstock for SAF via the alcohol-to-jet pathway, despite facing challenges with feedstock pre-treatment. The organization aims to leverage India's refining capacity and geographic advantages in the global aviation market.
