Hill Country Preservation Coalition Intervenes in Texas Transmission Line Case
The Hill Country Preservation Coalition has moved to intervene in the Texas Public Utility Commission's review of a high-voltage transmission line project. This intervention seeks to protect landowners along the proposed route from San Antonio to West Texas.

On March 25, the Hill Country Preservation Coalition filed a motion to intervene in PUC Docket No. 59336 regarding a proposed high-voltage transmission line project spanning approximately 300-370 miles from a substation southwest of San Antonio to another near Fort Stockton. This initiative involves CPS Energy and AEP Texas, aiming to amend their Certificates of Convenience and Necessity for the Howard-Solstice 765-kilovolt line, part of the PUC-approved 2025 Permian Basin Reliability Plan to meet growing electricity demands.
The application impacts multiple counties, including Atascosa, Bexar, and Pecos. The public deadline for intervention is April 1.
