Diageo has appointed Hunter Safety Group as Principal Contractor for refurbishment at a Lower Tier COMAH facility in Scotland. The project involves complex repair works within operational distillery and bioenergy plant environments, necessitating stringent safety measures and compliance with regulatory standards.

Hunter Safety Group is managing a refurbishment project for Diageo at a Lower Tier COMAH facility in Scotland, focusing on the repair of a spent wash balance tank within a live distillery and bioenergy plant. The project includes repairs to internal tank walls, concrete flooring, and external plinth, with operations classified as confined space work that requires strict safety protocols, including continuous atmospheric monitoring.
Coordination with ongoing production processes is critical to minimize disruptions. Hunter Safety Group is implementing a Health and Safety Management System that incorporates a Permit to Work system, ensuring that up to 40 contractors can operate safely on-site.
Regular updates and risk assessments are conducted to maintain compliance with health and safety regulations. Effective management of temporary works and first aid provisions are also ensured, highlighting the importance of safety in high-risk environments.
