ICM Inc. Partners with FS Indústria de Etanol to Establish New Ethanol Production Facility in Brazil
ICM Inc. has solidified its commitment to the renewable energy sector by signing a comprehensive agreement with FS Indústria de Etanol S.A. for the design and supply of a new greenfield dry mill grain ethanol production facility near Campo Novo do Parecis, Mato Grosso, Brazil. Inspired by FS's existing Primavera facility, this new plant is set to boast an impressive production capacity of 540 million liters per year upon its projected completion in December 2026.
The establishment of this facility marks FS's fourth greenfield ethanol project in the region and is anticipated to provide a significant economic uplift, generating approximately 600 direct jobs and an astounding 8,000 indirect jobs during the construction phase. Beyond job creation, the plant is projected to yield 350,000 metric tons of co-products for animal nutrition, alongside 69,000 metric tons of corn oil and 56,000 MWh of electricity annually, thereby enhancing local agricultural productivity and economic vitality.
ICM will implement its proprietary base tricanter system for corn oil recovery, along with selective milling technology designed for optimized starch conversion and advanced fiber separation techniques. These innovations are aimed at maximizing ethanol yield while enhancing the value of the resultant feed products. This collaboration not only emphasizes ICM's engineering prowess but also reflects a long-standing partnership with FS, which has previously resulted in successful projects in Lucas do Rio Verde, Sorriso, and Primavera do Leste.
As Matt Horsch, Executive Vice President of Technology and Operations at FS, noted, the partnership with ICM has been crucial in driving FS's growth and establishing new benchmarks for ethanol production in Brazil. With three successful projects already completed, there is a strong confidence in ICM’s ability to realize the ambitious vision for the Campo Novo do Parecis facility, making it the largest and most advanced of its kind.
Chris Mitchell, President and CEO of ICM, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the shared commitment to advancing renewable fuels and fostering sustainable growth in Mato Grosso. This project not only represents a significant step forward in technology and efficiency but also aims to create enduring value for the regional economy, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in the pursuit of renewable energy solutions.
