Indian Potash to Invest Rs 360 Crore in Reviving Badamba Sugar Mill in Odisha
Indian Potash Limited has signed a Rs 360 crore agreement with the Government of Odisha to revive the Badamba cooperative sugar mill, which has been closed for over 15 years. The project aims to modernize the mill, with a crushing capacity of 3,500 tonnes of cane per day, and includes a cogeneration power plant and a Bio-CNG unit. The initiative is expected to benefit around 10,000 farmers and stimulate rural employment and economic activity.

Indian Potash Limited will invest Rs 360 crore to revive the Badamba cooperative sugar mill in Odisha, which has been inactive for over 15 years. The modernization project includes a crushing capacity of 3,500 tonnes of cane per day, a 16-MW cogeneration power plant, a 10-tonne-per-day Bio-CNG unit, and a cold storage facility.
The Odisha government will lease 112 acres of land for the project. This initiative is projected to benefit nearly 10,000 farmers by enhancing sugarcane cultivation and creating job opportunities, contributing to the rural economy and India’s bioenergy goals.
